International Meeting in Potsdam within the GA ČR Project
From 13 to 15 November, a group of researchers from Institute for Research and Applications of Fuzzy Modeling, University of Ostrava, visited the partner institution the Institute of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Potsdam (Institut für Physik und Astronomie, Universität Potsdam). The meeting took place within the framework of the project GA ČR No. 24-10177L “Fractional and Fuzzy-Fractional Transport in Disordered Enviroments”, funded by the Czech Science Foundation (GA ČR) and implemented as a bilateral Czech–German collaboration with the German Research Foundation (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, DFG). The project runs from July 2024 to June 2027.
The main aim of the visit was an expert discussion of the first results achieved within the project, focusing on the mathematical and physical description of transport processes in disordered systems using fractional and fuzzy-fractional models. These approaches allow for a more accurate representation of phenomena such as anomalous diffusion and generalized Brownian motion, which cannot be adequately described by classical methods.
During the working meetings, both research teams exchanged their current results, methodological approaches, and open research questions, and agreed on further strengthening their cooperation, particularly in the direction of fuzzy-fractional analysis of Brownian motion and anomalous diffusion. In the coming period, this collaboration is expected to lead to the preparation of joint scientific publications, additional research visits, and the further development of interdisciplinary research at the interface of mathematics and physics.
