University of Ostrava Vice-Rector Martin Štěpnička gave a tutorial at IJCRS 2026 in Cádiz
Associate Professor Martin Štěpnička, Vice-Rector for Research and Artistic Activities at the University of Ostrava, took part in the12th International Joint Conference on Rough Sets, which was held from 26 to 29 May 2026 in Cádiz, Spain. As part of the conference programme, he delivered a tutorial entitled “Fuzzy Relational Calculus as a Fundamental yet Powerful Concept”.
The tutorial focused on fuzzy relational calculus as a fundamental and powerful framework for working with fuzzy relations. Special attention was paid to fuzzy relational compositions, their role in modelling relations between objects, and their importance for building transparent and interpretable models. The tutorial also discussed links to rough set theory and outlined possible application areas.
His participation in the programme of this international conference highlighted the long-standing involvement of the University of Ostrava and the Institute for Research and Applications of Fuzzy Modeling in global research on fuzzy modelling, uncertainty processing and intelligent systems.
